Lilly of the West performed on 25th June 2008 at the American embassy in Sofia.

The band was invited by US ambassador John Beyrle in honor of his farewell party. For the occasion Lilly of the West teamed up with Lubos Malina (banjo) and Lubos Novotny (Dobro). Both are founding members of legendary Czech band Druha Trava. Malina and Novotny arrived in Sofia on 24th June; their program included a meeting with Bulgarian folk instrument makers, workshops, a showcase concert on 25th June, together with Lilly of the West, in order to present the band's new repertoire. The event was attended by ambassador of Slovakia Miachal Kotman and the Director of the Czech Cultural center in Sofia - Machael Pospisil.

Lilly of the West will appear on the Bohemian Bluegrass festival in Pisek, Czech Republic, 25-27 July 2008.

Lilly and band will be on stage on Sunday 27, 14.15h. The line-up includes: Lilly Drumeva - vocal, guitar, fiddle, Svoboda Bozduganova - upright bass, Yassen Vassilev - guitar, Lubos Malina - banjo, whistles, Lubos Novotny - Dobro. More info on:

Lilly of the West started a project with Irish dancing group "Irish Mystery".

The show of music and dance will premiere in the fall at the Bulgarian national opera.


Lilly Drumeva interviewed Mark Knopfler on his world tour 2008 for her country music show on Radio Sofia.

Knopfler's touring band features acoustic instruments like fiddle, mandolin, Mandela, ukulele, Dobro.

Lilly Drumeva started playing the fiddle and is currently taking lessons from maestro Ivan Penchev, first violin in the Bulgarian philharmonics.
